Most of us are caught up in a frenzy, fast-paced, hectic way of living. For most of us, there never seems to be enough hours in the day to accomplish all that we would like to or need to.
Today, stress is a number one cause of illness. The hectic pace and pressures of every day living can take its toll on the body--robbing you of your strength, nutrients, and joy.
Through meditation, diet, exercise, alternative care approaches, spirituality, and stress management, we can seek to find a balance--balancing the work with the play--finding time for our God, our family, our careers, and ourselves.
A healthy natural lifestyle begins with eating healthy foods. Foods that are as close to the ground as possible and in the rawest state possible. And let's not forget supplements. Today, the soil is nutrient poor, our environment is polluted, and stress abounds; so you should add supplements to your diet to ensure that your body has it what it needs for maintaining itself.
As far as we are concerned, there is no excellent health without exercise. Exercise is like a panacea. It burns calories, improves circulation, cleanses the respiratory system, increases stamina, lowers cholestrol, relaxes the nervous system, reduces stress, and moves along substances trapped in joints and extremities.
"Healing vs Medicine" is and will continue to be a topic of discussion. Both are needed. The body, when given what it needs through healthy lifestyle choices, has the ability to heal itself. Many medicines themselves are derived from natural substances. So, be proactive and take care of yourself. Avoid self-drugging and see your doctor when necessary.
HEALING ENVIRONMENTS
Color affects mood Light and Sound impact stress Views of Nature can shorten physical healing Aromas can heal and relieve stress Being in Natural Settings has restorative qualities Symbols & Momentos can invoke past feelings of love, care and comfort
Change, adapt, or create space that more fully reflect your soul. The proper lighting, color, garden, plants, music, aromatherapy, sound, and placement can create a welcoming, healing, and restorative environment. Work to keep your home, yard, cleaning supplies, cosmetics, etc., as close to nature as possible. One woman stated that when she's in her garden that her anxiety drains into the soil, the waterfall provides a soothing sound, the greenhouse provides year-round plants, and her lounger makes for a good reading place.
NATURE HAS HEALING POWER! Nature has proved to be a powerful positive force to well being. In 1984, the Science Journal reported research by Roger Ulrich where a group of patients who had undergone similar surgeries were placed in different postoperative hospital rooms to recover. Half of the patients were put in rooms facing trees and the other half were put in rooms facing a brick wall. The Result: Those with the view of nature had a shorter post-op stay and needed less pain medication.
All healing interventions must influence the body by somehow altering its frequency resonance. Healing has often been affected by such modalities as sound, light, music therapy and various other energy medicine techniques that alter the frequency patterns of an individual.
All matter, including herbs, pharmaceuticals, and even food with its accompanying vitamins, minerals and other nutrients could be examined from a frequency perspective which may explain their biological effects. Bio-Resonance Therapy is researching these principles of energy medicine.
While we do not fully understand the healing changes in the body, views of nature create positive feelings and reduce stress and natural products generate healing.
Nature has been linked to lowering blood pressure, in pain control, reduced aggression, and helpful with Attention Deficit Disorder. Growing gardens have been shown to improve physical capabilities, skill development, and social interaction while providing a restorative setting and sometimes food.
There is a difference between being cured, which is purely physical, and being healed which involves physical, emotional, and spiritual well being. A healing space must have multilevel benefits for the physical body, life energy (chi), and the spirit. The living world is mobile, says Christopher Day, a green architect, things are always changing, growing, evolving, moving, and dying. It is certainly for our better well being to create wonderful, stable, beautiful, and healing spaces--our home, our yard, our office, our vehicles, and even hotel rooms. When you travel, bring along mementos to display during your stay, as well as plenty of natural sanitizer, a couple of aromatherapy candles, and books.

LIGHT
Light powers all life through photosynthesis and the stimulation of hormone production.
Research has found that in the workplace employee morale was low when light was too dark or too bright.
Light therapy or phototherapy (classically referred to as heliotherapy) consists of exposure to daylight or to specific wavelengths of light using lasers, light-emitting diodes, dichroic lamps, or very bright, full-spectrum light, usually controlled with various devices. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine has listed “light therapy” as a practice that involves “veritable forms of energy that include those involving electromagnetic fields.Light therapy has been used to treat sleep disorders, accelerate wound healing, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), and sinusitis.
Sunlight is indispensible to good health and peace of mind. Do not be afraid of the sun, get as much sunlight as feels possible; and do avoid artificial light such as flourescent lighting, when possible. Sunlight has been used for centuries to encourage healing. It has been shown to benefit skin cancer. Sunlight can kill bacteria. It was discovered in hospitals that wards where sunlight entered had less bacteria than dark ones. It was also shown that patients recovered faster in sunlit rooms. We also need sunlight for the body to manufacture and synthesize Vitamin D.
SOUND & MUSIC
Sound is a creative and healing force. Sound can energize us, soothe, cause us to dance, and can have a profound effect on our well being.
For example, the Bulgarian Psychiatrist, Gorgi Lazanoff, was able to show an increased capacity for learning, super learning, if you will, by playing Baroque music (1700's Bach, Vivaldi, Telemon, Handle) and having his students breathe in rhythm with the beat. It all goes to show that sound and music can have a profound effect on our health, and well being, not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally as well.
We know the power of sound and music and that the voice changes with emotional states or illness. Our health or mood can be strongly affected by music, toning, chanting, and singing. Just think back to the last time a sick or distraught friend called and remember how their voice was different than normal. Sound research supports this.
Stressful sounds can be masked by peaceful sounds. For example, a noisy neighborhood can be masked by wind chimes or waterfalls.
Music can alleviate pain, counteract depression, counteract apprehension, induce sleep, soothe nerves, make mundane task less mundane, and make us move; and most of us know that music can establish a mood for a particular occasion.
Every noise we make vibrates our body in a way that brings motion, vibration, and health to our cells.
AROMATHERAPY
Aroma Therapy or Aromatherapy is the practice of using volatile plant oils, such as essential oils, for psychological and physical well-being.
Essential oils, the pure essence of a plant, have been found to provide enormous psychological and physical benefits. There are approximately 300 detailed essential oils in the form of absolutes, CO2s, and hydrosols used in aromatherapy.
In addition to essential oils, aromatherapy encourages the use of other complementary natural ingredients including cold pressed vegetable oils, jojoba (a liquid wax), hydrosols, herbs, milk powders, sea salts, sugars (an exfoliant), clays and muds. Products that include synthetic ingredients are frowned upon in holistic aromatherapy. It is important to note that perfume oils, aka as fragrance oils (and usually listed as "fragrance" on an ingredient label), are not the same as essential oils. Fragrance oils and perfume oils contain synthetic chemicals and do not provide the therapeutic benefits of essential oils. In fact, many of them can contribute to illness.
Essential oils are powerful weapons. Most are antibacterial, antiviral, antiinflammatory, antiparastic, antifungal, antiseptic, and antidepressant. They get the job done whether by aerial diffusion, direct inhalation, or topical.
They work by being absorbed by cell receptors in the nose which have a direct communication with the parts of the brain that deal with memory and emotions.

Healthier Laundry
Healthier Laundry Source: (Well Being Journal)
Some 35 billion loads of laundry and 100 million tons of clothes are washed annually in the U.S; but there are ways to reduce the environmental impact of all this washing...
Switch to healthier laundry products made without petrochemicals which are unhealthy for humans and wildlife. Most modern detergents, bleaches, and fabric softeners are made from petrochemicals. These chemicals can break down substances that mimic hormones, promote cancer, and are harmful to fish and other aquatic creatures.
Substitute hydrogen peroxide for chlorine bleach.
Only use hot water when absolutely necessary.
Don't use extra suds which can cause washing machine to work harder; instead, presoak very dirty clothes.
Clean lint filter after each wash load.
Healthier Work Environment
Office germs are everywhere; so learn how to protect yourself. Some of the biggest culprits are the phone, desk, stapler, keyboard, mouse, fax machine, and the copy machine.
To help protect yourself... Wash your hands often; and especially before eating or touching sensitive areas of the body such as the eyes.
Natural hand sanitizers can be used throughout the day.
Wash coffee mugs and glasses regularly with natural soap and water.
Clean the top of drink cans, which can harbor bacteria, before drinking.
If you eat at your desk, be sure to clean it regularly with natural soap and water or alcohol.
If you are sick (contagious), stay home.
