Emotions
FEELINGS, OH OH FEELINGS!

Emotion is defined as a disturbance of mind; they are our feelings.

Sometimes we forget that when dealing with most people that we are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures of emotions--creatures bustling with prejudice; creatures motivated by pride, envy, and vanity.--
Dale Carnegie

Emotions play a larger role in determining our well being than most people realize.  They are able to affect the physical body towards good health or ill health.

This is especially true when it comes to females.  One woman wrote that women must learn to control their many emotions.  Women are more likely to cry, fight, get angry, take things personal, be overly critical, and overly sensitive.  Of course, part of all that is what makes us a woman.  It is what some have called "the softer side of man".  However, being ruled by emotions is not a state that promotes wellness in any aspect of our lives.  It may be a daily struggle, but in order to live a balanced, healthy life, we must get ourselves together and rule our approach to life and not let our emotions rule us.  Our joy is our own, and our bitterness is our own.

Controlling negative emotions can bring more peace and joy to your home, your work environment, and improve your health.

Learn to Love Yourself and Others

Let's face it--dealing with most people is a day-to-day battle.  Because as we said above, most people are creatures full of emotions.  The key is love, love, love!  The saying that love conquers all definitely has great merit.

Love is patient
Love is kind
Love does not envy
Love does not boast
Love is not proud
Love is not rude
Love is not self-seeking
Love is not easily angered
Love keeps no record of wrongs
Love drives our fear
Love does not delight in evil; but rejoices in the truth
Love protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres, and has faith.
LOVE NEVER FAILS

Aromatherapy and Emotions
Source: Aromatherapy & Your Emotions by Shirley Price

It has been said that the nose is the only organ with direct access to the brain.  That we can distinguish some 10,000 different types of scents instantly.  Aromatherapy involves using the scents of nature to facilitate well being.  100% pure essential oils can detox our environment and help us to deal with our negative emotions.

Each essential oil contains as much as 100 chemical components, which together exert a strong effect on the whole person.  Depending on which component is predominating in an oil, the oils act differently.  For example, some oils are relaxing, some soothe you, some relieve your pain, etc. Then there are oils such as lemon and lavender, which adapt to what your body needs, and adapt to that situation. (These are called "adaptogenic"). The mechanism in which these essential oils act on us is not very well understood.  What is understood is that they affect our mind and emotions. They leave no harmful residues. They enter into the body either by absorption or inhalation.  They are powerful.

A fragrance company in Japan conducted studies to determine the effects of smell on people. They pumped different fragrances in an area where a number of keyboard entry operators were stationed and monitored the number of mistakes made as a function of the smell in the air. The results were as follows:

When exposed to lavender oil fragrance (a relaxant), the keyboard typing errors dropped 20 percent.

When exposed to jasmine (an uplifting fragrance), the errors dropped 33 percent
When exposed to lemon fragrance (a sharp, refreshing stimulant), the mistakes fell by a whopping 54 percent!
