When to Ditch Your Doctor
How many more times does your doctor need to interrupt you, speak in medical jargon, or throw another unhelpful antibiotic your way before you finally look for another one?!  If your doctor belittles you, acts defensive, or flat-out ignores your requests, it is definitely time to go shopping for a new doctor--especially if your are not getting any better!

Things to observe...

Does your doctor want to get you in and out FAST
On the average, doctors interrupt patients after 18 seconds into their description of what is wrong.  You need to be able to tell the doctor your entire story in order to get a clear diagnosis.

Your doctor shows a definite dislike for you or likes you too much
Doctors should set aside their likes and dislikes when treating patients.  However, they can exhibit behavior that implies they like some people and are turned off by others.  On the other hand, your doctor can be too kind or try to be your friend instead of telling you what you need to hear.  Still on the other hand, be aware if your doctors touches you in ways that make you feel uncomfortable physically or verbally.

The doctor prescribes medications without running tests
After complaining of a stomache ache, a patient was once prescribed medicine for ulcers without a determination that she had ulcers--she did not.  Always asks why a particular medicine is being prescribe and is it absolutely necessary.

Your doctor does not tell you about all the options
For example, if you are a woman with female concerns, is your only recourse a hysterectomy or are there other options available.  Be sure to ask your doctor to tell you all the possibilities and the risks associated with each one.

Your doctor is condescending and unkind
Run, if a doctor speaks to you as if your were an idiot, use any racial sterotypes, or is basically uncaring and unkind.

Your doctor's facility and equipment do not appear clean
Of all places, the doctor's office and equipment should be clean and consistently free of germs.

Your doctor willl not let you view your medical records
Why shouldn't you have the right to view YOUR medical history at your request and receive copies of them if you desire?
